Mobile Loaner Program: Borrow instead of buy

 

OIT offers a loaner program for Mobile Devices, Display Adapters and Laptops via the OIT Solutions Center Tech Clinic at 112 Frist Campus Center.  The program is a low-cost way to help faculty and staff stay connected to the University while away from campus. 

We have flip phones, iPhones, Androids, iPads, Mobile Hotspots, Apple adapters and laptops available to take on business trips. Supplies are limited and the requests must be submitted 5 business days prior to traveling. Please allow 30 minutes to set up laptop, cell phone, iPad or hotspot devices. The pick up date should be at least 1 day prior to travel.

There is no cost to borrow equipment, however all voice/text/data usage overages exceeding $25 will be paid for by the user or department.

Program mobile devices and accessories are lent out on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations must be made online by completing the Mobile Reservation form for the device you wish to borrow. Refer to the OIT Mobile Technology Loaner webpages for reservation forms and full program details.

Devices and accessories available for loan include: 

  • Standard cell phones (voice only flip phone w/ domestic/international coverage)
  • iPhone and Android smartphones (domestic/international coverage)
  • Mobile WiFi Hotspots (domestic/international coverage)
  • Apple iPads (WiFi only)
  • Apple /  iPad video display adapters (also available to current students)
  • Apple and Dell laptops
  • Polycom Conference Sets (for on campus conferences)

Current students are eligible to borrow video display adapters only.

Devices must be returned to the Tech Clinic, Frist Campus Center, Room 112, no later than 9:30 a.m. on the specified return date (devices may be reassigned to another faculty or staff member later that day).  If you are unable to return the device on the scheduled time and date, please notify the SOC Help Desk as soon as possible. Upon return of the phone, an inventory will be conducted to ensure all equipment has been returned and is in working condition. Any damages to the phone or missing items will result in charges to your department. If missing item(s) are found and returned within seven days, your department will then be credited for the amount charged. A late fee of $5/day may be charged if a device is not returned on the designated return date
