On Wednesday, October 1, Microsoft operating system upgrades (called Service Packs) will be distributed to all student Windows Vista and XP computers that do not already have them. These upgrades are necessary to increase Microsoft Windows operating system security. Students with computers that need these service packs have been notified by e-mail. OIT’s Residential Computing Consultants (RCCs) will be visiting the residential college dorms during the first full week of classes. If you would like help with registering for Dormnet, or any other IT questions you may have, be in your room the evening the RCCs are scheduled to visit your dorm. There have been reports that some students are having problems using SCORE. If you experience difficulty using the system, clearing the cache on your web browser should correct the problem. To do this, follow the instructions in the OIT KnowledgeBase solution kb.princeton.edu/9922. If you continue to have problems, please call the OIT Help Desk at 609-258-4357(HELP).
OIT staff will be available at numerous times and locations throughout Orientation Week to help students with Princeton's information technology resources. OIT will be present at Residential College Move-in, at Freshman and Graduate Sign-in, and at the Frist Campus Center Open House on Wednesday, Sept. 10. OIT support services at Frist will provide extended hours at the Solutions Center, as well as special Tiger TV/network cable pick-up and phone sales booths. All students are welcome
