Update your antivirus software by installing McAfee VirusScan

The University has negotiated a campus-wide site license for McAfee VirusScan to replace Symantec AntiVirus on all faculty, staff and student computers.

You can download and install McAfee from www.princeton.edu/antivirus on your own. This new software will provide the University community a pro-active means of battling computer viruses and is free to all faculty, staff, and students. The full transition to McAfee is expected to take a few months; support for Symantec AntiVirus will continue through June 2009 and then be discontinued.

If you have a Macintosh computer, see: kb.princeton.edu/9749 for up-to-date information regarding OS X and McAfee. Even though at this time you should hold off on installing McAfee on OS X, if your computer is dual-boot and running Windows, then McAfee software should be installed on that operating system.
