OIT launches online collaborative tools; WebSpace and SharePoint
OIT is pleased to announce the availability of WebSpace and SharePoint, two new collaborative services designed to facilitate and support the sharing of information and communication of ideas among people working towards a common goal.
What is WebSpace?
WebSpace is a new online system for storing and sharing files. With 5 gigabytes of available disk space, WebSpace makes it easy to share files with colleagues around the world or around the corner. WebSpace is the appropriate choice if you are interested in providing your colleagues with remote access to files you wish to share, linking your files with Blackboard, or exchanging files among students in a class.
What is SharePoint?
SharePoint is a web-based tool for team collaboration, especially useful when managing projects. Information such as documents, pictures, forms, slides and wiki pages can be shared. Tasks, calendars, events, and issues can be tracked and managed with a group using features such as document management and workflow.
Which one is best to use?
- WebSpace is primarily for managing and collaborating with files, such as Word and Excel documents.
