OIT dotNET service now available for departmental web service needs

OIT now offers a small-scale, shared, development environment that enables departments to build web applications that interact with Microsoft SQLServer databases and/or Microsoft Access databases. It uses Microsoft's Internet Information Services (IIS) web server, which supports application development environments and languages that use Microsoft's .NET technological foundation, such as Visual Studio, Microsoft SharePoint Designer, and CodeCharge.

OIT's dotNET Service is appropriate for departments engaged in the business of the University. It is designed for small-scale web applications that have low network bandwidth requirements, and are not CPU-intensive. To qualify for this free service, hosted web applications must be able to coexist on a shared server with many other departmental web sites. Departments are responsible for their own web design and development work.
