Internet Explorer 7: Full support expected this summer
Microsoft has released Internet Explorer 7, which is available on the Web for download. At this time, OIT is actively exploring the implementation and integration of IE7 at Princeton.
Users of non-DeSC Windows machines need to be aware that not all University business applications have been certified with IE7 and, in fact, a small subset of University business applications are known to have incompatibilities. OIT is working to resolve any compliance and performance issues in order to fully support IE7. It is recommended that non-DeSC users NOT download this application until the UBA testing is successfully completed and IE7 is rolled out to DeSC computers.
At this time it is expected that Internet Explorer 7 will be deployed to all campus machines, including DeSC computers, on August 6, 2007. The OIT computing clusters will continue to run Internet Explorer 6 until August 20, 2007, when all Windows clusters are scheduled to be migrated to Vista, Office 2007, and Internet Explorer 7.
To familiarize the campus with Microsoft Internet Explorer 7, OIT will offer an opportunity for the community to come to Frist and try IE7's new navigation menus while helpful OIT staff members are on hand to lend assistance and answer questions. As they become available, more details regarding this "IE7 Test Drive" event will be posted here.
