Mobile technology loaner services now available for University business travelers
OIT is pleased to offer two mobile computing solutions to faculty and staff traveling on University business.
The BlackBerry Device Loaner Program offers a portable wireless e-mail solution for Exchange e-mail customers while on the road. Using a BlackBerry device, Exchange users can conveniently get their e-mail, calendar, contacts, notes, and tasks wirelessly and in real-time while traveling. You may borrow a BlackBerry from OIT for a maximum loan period of thirty days, with a seven day reservation notification required.
Also available on loan are wireless broadband data cards. Wireless broadband is a technology that makes high-speed Internet access possible over a wireless network, which is equivalent to your cellular phone. For business travelers who require Internet connectivity in airports, trains, and hotels, this option eliminates the need for cables and wires as it uses a wireless network card for your laptop.
A limited number of data cards are available for reservation through the Wireless Broadband Data Card Loaner program. Data cards are loaned out on a first-come, first-served basis, with a maximum loan period of two weeks.
