Accounts of graduated students to close October 1

On October 1, 2010, the accounts of students who graduated in June of 2010 will be closed and graduated students will no longer have access to campus computing resources, including Princeton e-mail and files stored on OIT servers.

Before then, graduated students need to:

  • Copy all files stored on OIT servers to their computers (e.g., H: drive files, e-mail messages).
  • Set up e-mail forwarding to continue to receive mail sent to @princeton.edu accounts (service continues for one year from graduation); mail sent to accounts without e-mail forwarding will be returned to the sender.
  • For Windows users who have joined the Princeton domain, computers should be removed from the Princeton domain and the location for Windows Updates reset.
  • Remove academic software.

The OIT Digital Suitcase (www.princeton.edu/suitcase) is available to help with these tasks. Students should keep in mind that zip files created using Suitcase must be picked up from the application before accounts close on October 1. Once accounts close, graduated students will no longer have access to the Suitcase application and their zip files.
