Server virtualization, power management, and print-less and sustainabilty
OIT will be showcasing its contribution to the campus-wide green initiatives at Princeton University's Sustainability Open House. The event is from 3 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 16, in the Chancellor Green Rotunda. An opening ceremony is planned for 3:30 p.m., with a welcome from Executive Vice President, Mark Burstein, and Danny Growald '11, an Ecology and Evolutionary Biology major.
OIT staff will be on hand during the event to talk about a number of the sustainability initiatives that are under way. Be sure to visit the OIT table to hear about the server virtualization service and the success stories of other departments who have virtualized their servers.
Learn about power savings with pc power management, and watch a demonstration on how to remotely 'wake up' a computer should you need access.
If you're interested in reducing printing and saving paper, come learn about the print-less campaign and the ways in which 17% reduction in printing was achieved.
