Off Campus Access to University Network Resources - Remote Access

OIT provides support for a range of high-speed remote access Internet options, including cable, DSL, and Broadband.

Office Network Connection

OIT activates network services on the standard IT connection boxes in faculty and staff offices around campus on an as-requested basis. In addition to first time activations, OIT also upgrades connection "speeds" upon request.

The OIT Ambassador Program matches OIT staff members with individual campus departments with the aim of improving communication and customer service with the University community. Each OIT Ambassador represents OIT to its customers and represents customer needs and issues back to OIT.

OIT provides groups of computers, at various locations around campus, that contain specialized software/courseware, as well printers available for use by faculty, staff and students.

OIT's newsletter, IT Matters, provides updates on OIT services and suggestions for using the University' information technology more effectively. An archive of past issues is available.

OIT Outreach Events

OIT outreach events are scheduled for specific projects and needs. They can be used to inform students of important changes in IT services or to familiarize faculty and staff with new services.

OIT Publications

OIT publications provide information about selected OIT services and policies. Some publications are intended specifically for student needs (e.g., Technology Resources for Students, Setting Up Your Computer in Your Room); others are applicable to faculty and staff (e.g., IT Quick Start).

OIT Reports

As part of OIT's commitment to communicating with the University community, OIT publishes each year an Annual Report that highlights the annual activities of OIT. OIT also submits a President's Report that summarizes the organizations goals and accomplishments. In the fall, OIT submits a report to the Priorities Committee that summarizes the organization's most pressing needs. And, in addition, each quarter, for the Trustees, OIT submits a brief report that highlights OIT's main accomplishments and issues during the previous 3 month period.

OnBase (Enterprise Content Management System)

PSIG offers full cycle implementation and maintenance services for Princeton's Enterprise Content Management System, OnBase. OnBase projects may involve document imaging, document management, e-forms, and workflow.

These services include project management, technical guidelines/standards development, quality reviews and migration of projects developed by various development teams in central OnBase environments, integrations with other enterprise applications and development of limited custom solutions, if necessary, to best extend the application of the packaged software to meet the business needs.

PSIG also serves as on-campus application support working closely with customer representatives to resolve any technical issues that may arise, engaging third party expertise as necessary.

OnBase (Enterprise Content Management System) - Consulting and small solutions development/deployment

PSIG provides consulting services to assist departments in designing, prototyping and implementing OnBase solutions. OnBase projects may involve document imaging, document management, e-forms, and workflow.

PSIG will perform consulting and analysis for planning an OnBase solution, and document the solution requirements. For smaller projects, less than a week of effort, PSIG will also provide software configuration, development and deployment of the solution.

OnBase (Enterprise Content Management System) - Security Administration

PSIG offers centralized security administration services for Princeton’s Enterprise Content Management System, OnBase.

The services include architecting, implementing, maintenance of security and management of access to the information stored in OnBase.

OnBase Users Group (OBUG)

PSIG facilitates monthly meetings of the OnBase User Group (OBUG) and any current or potential OnBase user at Princeton is welcome to participate. OBUG is set up to serve as a venue for Princeton OnBase users to communicate and collaborate on OnBase based solutions.

These monthly meetings are used to share upcoming  enhancements, availability schedules, updates and other related information on product functionality as introduced by upgrade cycles and customer demand. Also, any issues that might affect the user community are discussed.

Members get access to the OBUG SharePoint site, where they can find information about meeting schedules, reference materials, release notes, system maintenance notices, etc.

Online Campus Directory

For every member of the campus community, the online campus directory contains Name, Address, Department (class year for students), E-mail address, Voicemailbox, telephone number, Fax number, Registered WWW home page, University ID number, and, if relevant, a Frist Mailbox. Members of the community can change their entry information at: www.princeton.edu/myinfo.
