Operations and Planning
OIT’s Operations and Planning group is responsible for the overall effectiveness of the OIT organization in serving the University and for overseeing IT-related initiatives that will strengthen campus-wide IT services, while helping the University operate more efficiently.
Our mission is to:
- Articulate organizational vision and IT strategic direction, aligning IT priorities and actions in support of University-wide goals by identifying emerging trends and opportunities in IT. Facilitate an effective goal setting and tracking process.
- Propose, develop, and enhance IT-related initiatives that will strengthen campus-wide IT services, in support of SUMAR (Strengthening University Management and Resources) initiatives to help the University operate more efficiently.
- Working closely with the Provost, Executive Vice President, and Treasurer, anticipate future IT needs (over multiple years) and assist in the allocation and management of the SAGIT (Senior Advisory Group on IT) Information Systems Infrastructure Fund (ISIF).
- Coordinate a variety of OIT cross-functional teams enabling continuous improvement, guiding the identification of goals and objectives, and monitoring progress towards deliverables.
- Develop strategies for communicating how IT decisions affect University operations and achieve desired results.
- Develop, maintain, and communicate processes for valuing IT services and work with IT service providers to enhance services based on user evaluations and other quality measures.
- Identify opportunities to improve OIT internal communication, organizational effectiveness, and staff development opportunities within OIT.
- Promote and uphold the OIT Core Values.
