Certain federal grants and cooperative agreement awards provide the University Expanded Authorities.  These awards allow the University to authorize certain administrative changes to a sponsored award without advanced sponsor approval required.  These authorizations may include allowances for 90-day pre-award costs, minor rebudgeting between cost categories, and a single no-cost extension.  

In order to exercise the University’s Expanded Authorities on applicable awards, the PI or Department must submit the Sponsored Project/Grant Approval Request Form to ORPA.  Upon review and approval, ORPA will take any necessary action with the sponsor.
