Subawards and Contracting
ORPA works closely with the Department and PIs to initiate and manage the following agreements issued under a sponsored award.
- A subaward is a formal written agreement made between the University and a subrecipient organization to perform a portion of the Statement of Work under a sponsored award.
- An Independent Contracting Agreement (ICA) is a formal written agreement made between the University and a contractor, in which a contractor provides a specific skill or expertise requiring a high level of independence in the performance of the tasks that are needed for a relatively short period. Please note that ORPA no longer initiates new Independent Contracting Agreements. Please contact the Purchasing Department for more information.
