A subaward is a formal written agreement made between the University and a subrecipient organization to perform a portion of the research under a University sponsored project or program. At the proposal development stage, the PI and Department must be aware of how to represent and adequately document the subaward in the proposal. At a minimum, the proposed subrecipient organization must provide a subrecipient-specific statement of work, budget, budget justification, and Subrecipient Commitment Form prior to proposal submission.
Please refer to the Subaward Policy for more information.
ORPA also has a handy Subaward Checklist form that can be referred to when planning proposals that will include subrecipients.
