Title: Academic Success Today

Description: Academic Success Today (AST) is a mentoring program which brings Princeton University undergraduates in personal contact with children who attend the John Witherspoon Middle School. It is run in conjunction with Corner House. The volunteer is paired with a child ranging from sixth to eighth grade. These children usually need help academically and come from diverse backgrounds. Since each mentor- mentee relationship is different, each pair may make their own schedule for spending time together. The mentor and mentee meet once a week to help with homework, to give general academic guidance, and to relax and have fun together. The AST program is a rewarding way to become both a mentor and a friend to a child in the Princeton area.
