Parking Citations

Enforcement of Policy
Parking regulations are enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Violators will be issued a citation and may be towed, depending on the offense and number of pending violations.

A driver may receive a warning for their first violation. A second violation will result in a payable citation. After three citations, the fine is raised to $50 for each additional citation. Vehicles may be towed or booted at the owner's expense, if payment for citations is not made.

Parking Citation Payment

• Send to Transportation & Parking Services
• Postmark within 10 days of the date the citation was issued to avoid a late fee

In person:

Late Payment Penalties
A late fee of $10 is charged if payment is received after 10 days from citation issuance. Students who do not pay their parking fines within 10 days will have the amount (including the late fee) automatically charged to the student's account.

Any vehicle parked on University property without a valid registration and license plate will be treated as abandoned. An abandoned vehicle will be towed and stored at the owner's expense. The University will dispose an abandoned vehicle if it is not reclaimed within 90 days.

Princeton University reserves the right to tow or boot vehicles on University property that are in violation of parking policy, with the expense to be borne by the owner of the vehicle. Questions regarding the issuance of citations should be directed to Transportation & Parking Services.

The University reserves the right to revoke the parking privilege of anyone who continually violates the parking regulations.

Citation Appeal
After the Notice of Violation is issued, there is a 10 day period to file an appeal. At the end of the 10 day period, if payment or an appeal has not been received, the fine will be automatically charged a late fee of $10.

Customers who wish to appeal a parking citation can download the citations appeal form in PDF format and submit the completed form via email to Transportation & Parking Services at parking@princeton.edu or stop by in person. Appeals MUST be submitted within 10 days of the citation issue date. Decisions may take up to one month.

Denied appeals will be charged an additional fee of $10. All fees must be paid no later than 10 days after receipt of notice to avoid late penalties. The following violations CANNOT be appealed:
