Optimal Push/Pull Proxy Gateway for Wireless Internet Services

Researchers at Princeton University have developed a novel method to improve access speed and service efficiency of mobile Internet users. Princeton is currently seeking industrial collaborators to commercialize this technology.

Wireless Internet services are one of the most rapidly expanding segments in the information technology industry. The push/pull proxy gateway, which interfaces between the mobile user and the server, is the most important device between the wired and wireless networks. The technology of push/pull proxy gateway is currently based on cache systems, which can not achieve high performance in that the hit probability is only 50%. This new system utilizes a new prefetching technology and a new mobility estimation/prediction technology to reduce the access latency and increase the hit probability for providing push/pull wireless Internet services to mobile users.

Patent protection is pending.
