Audio: The Zen flute

During the spring term, 23 Princeton students enrolled in "Masterworks for the Zen Flute," a course devoted to the shakuhachi — a flared flute almost two feet long. The course was co-taught by comp-lit professor Thomas Hare '75 and visiting fellow Riley Lee, the first non-Japanese shakuhachi grand master.

Listen to two selections played by Lee that the students learned during the course.
