PCCM researchers Andrew Houck and Jason Petta and their students recently achieved a milestone in quantum computing. They showed that a microwave photon can be used to transfer quantum information between two qubits spaced roughly 1 cm apart. Each qubit is comprised of a single electron spin trapped in an InAs nanowire. The report appears in Nature 490, 380 (2012).
