Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) The REU program is principally focused on providing students with the opportunity to carry out research at the forefront of materials science and engineering. In addition, we provide a proactive educational program consisting of short courses and lectures, designed to introduce students to the grand challenges of materials research. Princeton University Campus · 8:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m. |
Partners in Science In collaboration with the Jersey City-based Liberty Science Center, faculty members and graduate students in the Princeton Institute for the Science and Technology of Materials (PRISM) will serve as mentors to high school students working as researchers in their labs. The program will culminate in a symposium during which the students will present their work. Bowen Hall · 9:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m. |
PCCM / ACS SEED Research Experience for High School Students Two students, both of whom previously participated in the Princeton University Materials Academy science and engineering summer program, will work with Professor Priestley on cutting-edge materials science and chemistry-related polymer research projects. The program is funded by the National Science Foundation through the Princeton Center for Complex Materials and the American Chemical Society SEED project. Previous students from this program have been accepted at universities to major in STEM fields. The students in this program start in PUMA and advance through research experience in SEED. Bowen Hall · 9:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m. |
Research Experience for Teachers (RET) Two teachers from New Jersey and Pennsylvania will work in the labs of Princeton researchers to gain insight into current research. They will study new materials for alternative energy and ways to enhance materials science and engineering education in K-12 schools. In the next academic year, they will share their experiences, incorporating these concepts into their curricula. Bowen Hall · 9:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m. |
Princeton University Materials Academy (PUMA) The PUMA program will engage 16 teenagers from Trenton, NJ for an intensive materials camp course. Students will gain access to hand-on, inquiry based learning and interact with PCCM faculty and graduate students. Princeton University Campus · 10:00 a.m.– 8:00 p.m. |
