FACULTY HONOR: Levin Elected as a Foreign Member of the Instituto Lombardo
On June 26th Simon Levin, the George M. Moffett Professor of Biology at Princeton University, was elected a foreign member of the Instituto Lombardo Accademia di Scienze e Lettere. Levin has been invited to attend a ceremony on October 2, 2014 in Milan to be presented with a certificate of appointment. The Instituto Lombardo was established in 1797 by Napoleon Bonaparte on the model of the Institut de France with the task of collecting the findings and refining the arts and sciences including: physical and mathematical sciences, moral and political sciences, and literature and the arts. At the fall of Napoleon, the Instituto passed first to the Austrian government and then (in 1859) to the Italian government.
