Morris K. Udall Scholarship

The Morris K. Udall Scholarship and Excellence in National Environmental Policy Foundation has created a scholarship program to attract students into careers in environmental public policy. The Scholarship covers eligible expenses for tuition, fees, books, and room and board to a maximum of $5,000 for one academic year.

Scholarships are offered in any of three categories:

  • To students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to the environment including policy, engineering, science, education, urban planning and renewal, business, health, justice, economics, and other related fields; or
  • To Native American and Alaska Native students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to tribal public policy, including fields related to tribal sovereignty, tribal governance, tribal law, Native American education, Native American justice, natural resource management, cultural preservation and revitalization, Native American economic development, and other areas affecting Native American communities; or
  • To Native American and Alaska Native students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to Native health care, including health care administration, social work, medicine, dentistry, counseling, and research into health conditions affecting Native American communities, and other related fields.

Requirements

Nominees must:

  • Be a sophomore or junior (during the 2014-2015 academic year), who has outstanding potential, and a demonstrated commitment to the environment and related fields.
  • Have a GPA of at least a “B” or the equivalent. Be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or U.S. permanent resident.

To be considered for nomination, you must meet the above requirements and complete the online application below by Monday,  November 17, 2014. Please include the following materials:

  • A one-page statement (please submit only one page) on why you would like to be considered for this scholarship.
  • A copy of your unofficial transcript
  • Your CV

If you are selected as a nominee you will receive an application checklist, and will have until Friday, January 30, 2015 at 4:00 pm to submit your application materials and supporting documents to Angela Petsis, 127 Guyot Hall.
