"Regionalizing the Globe: An Experiment with Senegambia, Kunming, and a Bend in the Ganges"
This conference will be the inaugural part of an innovative, multidisciplinary, collaborative project in the study of modernity and globality. This overall project of which this conference represents the initial meeting is called "Radiating Globality." It will bring together scholars from around the world--India, Africa, Central Asia, and Europe--to think about the emergence of globality through case studies and collaborative theorizing about places at which there were multiple, competing and overlapping colonial projects, and diffuse forms of pre- and sub-colonial transregional trade and relations.
