A Conversation between Alma Guillermoprieto and John Loomis
Alma Guillermoprieto was a dancer before she became known as a reporter who put Latin America in perspective for English-speaking readers. She is the author of "Dancing with Cuba" a memoir of her time teaching modern dance at the Cuban National Art Schools. The schools' beauty and difficult history is the subject of John Loomis' book Revolution of Forms: Cubas Forgotten Art Schools, and of this conversation.
John Loomis is an architect, author, and educator at San José State University. His written works have appeared in Design Book Review where he was executive editor, Casabella, Harvard Design Magazine, Progressive Architecture, Urban Land, San Francisco Chronicle and other journals. He has been a Visiting Scholar at the Getty Research Institute and a Loeb Fellow at Harvard University.
