Rioyo is a journalist, assistant-director of the radio program "A vivir que son dos días", assistant to the management team of Cinemania magazine, and collaborator with El País newspaper. "Asaltar los cielos [Storm the Skies]" (1996, 96 min.) is a film about one of the most controversial historical events of the 20th Century: the assassination of León Trotsky, a communist who was instrumental in founding the Red Army and the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party. Expelled from his homeland, Trotsky was allowed to reside in Mexico, but tragedy unfolds when Ramón Mercader, one of Lenin's most loyal followers finally reaches Trotsky's hiding place in Coyoacán. "Asaltar los cielos" is a unique documentary about Ramon Mercader, his motivations, and his subsequent silence.
