Every summer, the Department of Politics participates in a competitive Softball League. Leviathan, which is comprised of graduate students, staff, and faculty, has consistently ranked as one of the best teams in the A Division. During the months of May through July, roughly two games per week are played against other University departments concluding with the playoffs in early August. It is a fun time and great opportunity to spend time outdoors with colleagues.
After clinching the season's #1 ranked spot in the A Division for the year, Leviathan went on to win the Championship Game on 8/5/2011. Leviathan also won the Championship title in the summer of 2008.
In both the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 Intramurals Softball Tournament, Leviathan also won this Championship in addition to capturing the champion title in the Fall 2006. We are very proud of these accomplishments!
If you are interested in joining Leviathan, please contact the co-captains: Ted Engelhardt and Scott Abramson.
Graduate students in the Department also organize a range of other intramural sport teams and activities such as Ultimate Frisbee, Soccer, and Basketball.
