Specialization:

Anna Stilz's research interests include the history of political thought (particularly in the 17th-18th Centuries); nationalism; political obligation, authority, and state legitimacy; and theories of collective agency. Her current projects include papers on language policy, state responsibility for aggressive war, and state's rights to territory. Her first book, Liberal Loyalty: Freedom, Obligation, and the State was recently published by Princeton University Press (2009). She has also published articles in History of European Ideas, International Theory, and Philosophy and Public Affairs.
