Specialization: International political economy; Japanese politics

Her teaching and research interests include international relations, international political economy, the politics of Japan and the EU, and the study of international organizations. She is author of Food Fights Over Free Trade: How International Institutions Promote Agricultural Trade Liberalization (Princeton University Press, 2003). She is a recipient of fellowships from the Harvard University Program on U.S.-Japan Relations and the MacArthur Foundation, and she was a Fulbright scholar in Japan. She is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations and is an associated faculty member of the East Asian Studies Department.
