Specialization:

My main interest is in global justice, especially the nature and justification of special duties between compatriots and the ethics of immigration. My dissertation brings these topics together and examines the permissibility of immigration restrictions, the rights of irregular migrants and guest workers, and the moral foundations of immigrant multiculturalism. My other main area of research is democratic theory. In particular, I am interested in questions about the fair distribution of political influence and the moral implications of voter ignorance and irrationality for the ethics of representation and the design of democratic institutions. I also have an interest in the ethics of climate change.
