In a world where interests and values often conflict, how should societies be governed? Which form of government is best? Is the form we have in America the best there is? This introductory course examines these and other vital questions of political theory. We will seek answers in the writings of ancient and modern theorists including Aristotle, Machiavelli, Montesquieu and the American Founders. We will also seek to understand important concepts such as virtue, moderation, justice, and order.
