Latin American Politics

The course analyzes twentieth century Latin America. The course maintains a thematic focus - presenting competing theoretical arguments about democracy and development in the region. The readings and lectures evaluate these arguments in the context of six cases: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Mexico, and Peru.
