Junior Independent Work & Senior Thesis
In order to fulfill the requirements for the A.B. degree, Politics concentrators must complete two semesters of junior independent work and a senior thesis.
Juniors concentrating in Politics must complete a fall independent work requirement in connection with a junior research workshop led by a faculty member. Fall junior research workshops will, in addition to the small groups, include a plenary component that provides common instructions in research procedures and techniques. Instead of a Fall junior paper, juniors will complete a series of assignments in their workshop and in the plenary sessions, building up to a research prospectus. In the Spring semester, juniors will complete a junior paper under the supervision of a faculty member.
Work on the senior thesis typically begins during the summer before senior year, and is due in the spring semester of the senior year.
