The International Economics Section (formerly the International Finance Section) was established in 1930. Its endowment comprises the Walker Foundation, established with funds donated in memory of James Theodore Walker of the Class of 1927 by members of his family, and the Professorship of Economics and International Finance, a gift from friends of the University.
From its inception, the section has fostered research in the area of international economic problems and policies. The section publishes monographs on topics in international trade and finance, sponsors conferences on research and policy problems in these areas, and operates a visiting fellows program. It also sponsors a weekly research seminar attended by faculty and students in the Department of Economics and the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.
Members of the staff are available for consultation with students working in the general area of international economics. The section is located in Fisher Hall.
