Costs and Financial Aid

Here is what it costs for an undergraduate to study at Princeton in 2001-02:

Comprehensive fee
   (tuition and other fees) $26,160
Room 3,726
Board 3,857
Miscellaneous expenses
   (books, supplies, etc.) 2,787

Total $36,530

Students who receive financial aid help pay for their education by working in the summer and during the school year. Princeton students are no longer required to take loans to help pay their basic expenses. Princeton provides grants to fill any gap between a student's expenses and the amount a student and his or her parents are able to pay.

The amount of the parental contribution is determined with the help of a formula developed by the College Scholarship Service. Princeton, however, uses a method that reduces or eliminates the home value in determining aid.
