Princeton's 254th commencement ceremony begins at 11
a.m., Tuesday, June 5, on the lawn in front of Nassau Hall.
(Jadwin Gymnasium is used in cases of severe weather).
President Harold T. Shapiro is the
commencement speaker. In addition to the awarding of degrees
to undergraduate and graduate students, the ceremony
includes brief addresses by the valedictorians and
salutatorian and the presentation of honorary degrees,
teaching awards for Princeton faculty and awards to four New
Jersey secondary school teachers.
This year, for the first time
since its founding in 1746, the University has selected two
valedictorians: Jared Kramer, an engineering student in the
Department of Computer Science, and Christine McLeavey, a
physics major and award-winning pianist. The salutatorian,
who gives an address in Latin, is classics major Christopher
Bradley.
Commencement admission is by ticket only.
The ceremony is simulcast in Richardson Auditorium,
Alexander Hall; no tickets are required at the simulcast
site.
Leading up to commencement, more than
15,000 alumni and friends participate in reunion activities,
May 31 - June 3. For more information about the University,
