Princeton's 254th commencement ceremony begins at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 5, on the lawn in front of Nassau Hall. (Jadwin Gymnasium is used in cases of severe weather).
    President Harold T. Shapiro is the commencement speaker. In addition to the awarding of degrees to undergraduate and graduate students, the ceremony includes brief addresses by the valedictorians and salutatorian and the presentation of honorary degrees, teaching awards for Princeton faculty and awards to four New Jersey secondary school teachers.

    This year, for the first time since its founding in 1746, the University has selected two valedictorians: Jared Kramer, an engineering student in the Department of Computer Science, and Christine McLeavey, a physics major and award-winning pianist. The salutatorian, who gives an address in Latin, is classics major Christopher Bradley.
    Commencement admission is by ticket only. The ceremony is simulcast in Richardson Auditorium, Alexander Hall; no tickets are required at the simulcast site.
