Town and gown come together at Communiversity

The annual Communiversity celebration brought the town and University together on Saturday, April 24, for a day of performances, food and games.

Merchants, nonprofit organizations, musicians, performing and visual artists and food vendors turned Nassau and Witherspoon streets into a colorful fairground with events for students and families alike. The event was sponsored by students at the University and the Arts Council of Princeton.

Traditional favorites on four stages included Flamenco Puro, Sympoh and Naacho. Children's activities -- face painting and interactive science demonstrations -- and Princeton student booths were set up on the front lawn of Nassau Hall.

The athletics department offered a variety of sports games and demonstrations put on by student athletes on Cannon Green. Princeton's a cappella groups performed arch sings at Blair and East Pyne halls.

The University's International Center continued its tradition of participation with an elaborate flag procession, each representing a Princeton student's home country. The center also provided international foods and sponsored performances, including the popular Chinese lion dance.
