More than 1,500 expected to attend Alumni Day Feb. 22
Peter Bell and William Frist to give lectures
Who: More than 1,500 parents and alumni, including
CARE President Peter Bell and Senate Majority Leader William Frist
What: Alumni Day and Parents' Program
When: 9 a.m. through 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22
Where: Princeton University
More than 1,500 alumni and parents of current undergraduates are expected
on campus for a day of lectures, ceremonies and other events Saturday,
Feb. 22.
The annual Alumni Day and Parents' Program, coordinated by the Alumni
Council, will begin at 9 a.m. with a variety of lectures, workshops
and tours and end with a 6:30 p.m. dinner honoring the winner of the
University's James Madison Medal this year.
Highlights will include:
- A lecture at 9:15 a.m. by Peter Bell, president
of CARE USA. The 1964 alumnus of the Graduate School who is this year's
Madison Medalist will speak on "Where the End of Poverty Begins" in
Richardson Auditorium, Alexander Hall.
- A lecture at 10:30 a.m. by William Frist, U.S.
senator from Tennessee and Senate majority leader, on "The Floor of
the U.S. Senate as the Operating Theater: Is Transplanting Ideas Any
Different From Transplanting Hearts?" in Richardson Auditorium, Alexander
Hall. The 1974 graduate is this year's recipient of the Woodrow Wilson
Award.
The Bell and Frist lectures will be open only to alumni with
tickets. Other members of the University community are invited
to view the lectures by simulcast in McCosh 50 or by live Webcast: http://
www.princeton.edu/webmedia. If space becomes an issue, the lectures
also will be simulcast in McCosh 60, 62, 64 and 66.
Media representatives will not be permitted in Richardson
Auditorium. Media representatives who wish to attend must RSVP by noon
Friday, Feb. 21, by contacting Natalie Lennon in the Office of Communications
at (609) 258-3601 or nat@princeton.edu.
The media will be seated in McCosh 66. Still and video photographers
will not be permitted in the auditorium, but pooled photos and video
will be available after the event.
