The Euro to Be Discussed by Editor for Suddeutsche Zeitung
Princeton, N.J. -- Joseph Joffe, a columnist and editorial page editor for Suddeutsche Zeitung, will give a lecture entitled "The Euro: The Engine That Couldnt" at Princeton Universitys Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs on Thursday, April 16, at 4:30 p.m., in Robertson Hall, Dodds Auditorium.
In addition to his position at Suddeutsche Zeitung, Germanys largest mainstream commercial newspaper, Joffe is also a contributing editor for U.S. News and World Report and Time. He has written articles, essays, reviews, and opinion pieces for numerous newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, the Times Literary Supplement, and The New Republic. A talk show host on German television, Joffe is a frequent commentator on the BBC and NPR as well as on German, American, British, and Austrian television.
Joffe juggles his career in the media with one in academia. He currently teaches at the University of Munich and the Salzberg Seminar. In 1990-91 he was a visiting professor of government at Harvard University and today remains affiliated with Harvards Olin Institute for Strategic Studies. While working in Washington, D.C., at the Carnegie Endowment and the Woodrow Wilson Center, Joffe taught at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
Joffe is the author of The Future of War: Three Predictions for the 21st Century and The Limited Partnership: Europe, the United States, and the Burdens of Alliance and co-author of Eroding Empire: Western Relations with Eastern Europe. His scholarly articles have appeared in such journals as Foreign Affairs and Foreign Policy as well as in professional journals in Germany, Britain, and France.
