Program in Applied and Computational MathematicsIn areas as diverse as engineering design, the control of smart robots, environmental analysis, economics, and fundamental physics, chemistry, and biology, the field of applied mathematics is leading a revolution at the heart of our society and industrial competitiveness. The Program in Applied and Computational Mathematics addresses tools, techniques, and applications that are a blend of rigorous mathematical fundamentals with modeling, numerical simulation, and experiment, and are central to the new computa-tional sciences now emerging. The program offers an undergraduate certificate in applied and computational mathematics as well as graduate degrees. The undergraduate certificate is designed for students from engineering and physical/biological/social science areas who wish to broaden their mathematical/computational skills to meet the demands of new technologies and for those mathematically oriented students interested in challenging applications from the broader scientific/engineering community.
