HR seeks referrals from employees
Human Resources wants you! Princeton University is
looking for qualified office support staff and janitors to
fill its ranks. But in a tight job market, finding the best
is not always easy. That's why the Office of Human Resources
has turned to its employees for help in finding potential
new staff members.
A referral program launched June 1 is paying University
employees $250 for identifying qualified office support and
janitorial job candidates that Princeton then hires.
"People who work at Princeton usually know who would work
out well here because they understand the high standards the
University sets for its staff and who can contribute at that
level," said Lynn Manka, director of organization
development, employment and services in the Office of Human
Resources.
"Also, when current employees talk about their jobs, they
are in effect promoting Princeton as a good place to work,"
she added.
Since the program began, 90 candidates have been referred
to the Office of Human Resources. Of those candidates, five
have been offered positions throughout campus. If those new
hires stay employed at the University for at least six
months, the employees who made the referrals will each earn
$250 pre-tax as a sort of "finder's fee."
The current program expires June 30, 2001. Manka said if
the program is a success, it could continue with larger
awards and expanded job categories.
Referral forms and additional information can be obtained
from the Office of Human Resources in Clio Hall or
