Concert series builds on construction theme
The show must go on!
Although the Mander organ is under wraps until the
restoration project is complete, the Office of Chapel Music
is offering a variety of concerts this year for interested
patrons.
Titled "Music Under Construction," the series includes
afternoon organ concerts in Proctor Hall at the Graduate
College a fitting location for the 100th anniversary of the
Graduate School and several other events in the Chapel.
The fall term organ concerts in Proctor will take place
from noon to 12:30 p.m. Wednesdays, and will be followed by
a light lunch. The cost is $5 for the lunch. Here is the
schedule:
Sept. 27. David Messineo, Princeton
University.
Oct. 4. Richard Frey, Ridgewood (N.J.) United
Methodist Church.
Oct. 11. Steven Laplante, Montreal, Canada.
Oct. 18. Jason Asbury, Prospect Presbyterian
Church, Maplewood, N.J.
Oct. 25. Scott Dettra, St. Mark's Episcopal
Church, Philadelphia.
The schedule for the fall term concerts in the Chapel
runs as follows:
Oct. 14, 8 p.m. "Digital/Acoustic," David
Messineo, organ, and Richard Dalessio, English horn.
Admission $10, students $8.
Oct. 20, 9 p.m. "The Phantom of the Opera," David
Messineo, organ, accompanying the silent movie. Admission
$10, students $8.
Nov. 18, 8 p.m. "Music Under Construction," a
concert of improvisation and newly composed work by the
University Art Blakey Jazz Ensemble, percussionists Michael
Hinton and George Hooks, and organist David Messineo.
Admission $10, students $8.
Dec. 3, 2:30 p.m. Christmas Vespers, "Lauda per la
Nativita del Signore" by Ottorino Respighi, Chapel Choir.
Admission free.
Dec. 11, 7:30 p.m. "'Messiah' Sing," community
sing with soloists, strings and organ. Admission $5,
students free.
Dec. 13, 8 p.m. "Candlelight Service of Lessons
and Carols," Chapel Choir, Glee Club and a cappella groups.
Admission free.

The Bulletin is published weekly during the academic year, except
during University breaks and exam weeks, by the Office of
Communications, Princeton University, Princeton, NJ 08544. Permission

Deadline. In general, the copy deadline for each issue is the
Friday 10 days in advance of the Monday cover date. The deadline for
the Bulletin that covers Oct. 9-15 is Friday, Sept. 29. A complete
publication schedule is available at deadlines.
Subscriptions. The Bulletin is distributed free to faculty,
staff and students. Others may subscribe to the Bulletin for $24 for
the academic year (half price for current Princeton parents and
