Staff rewarded for recruiting effors

Raymond Kopacz, Office of the Recording Secretary, earned a $250 check from the University by referring a new employee to the Office of Human Resources.

Seven staff members have won cash awards for recruit-ing new employees to the University.

Last summer, the Office of Human Resources launched a referral program in its quest to find qualified office support staff members and janitors in a tight job market.

Employees were offered $250 for identifying candidates that the University then hired. The "finder's fee" only applied if the new hires stayed employed at the University for at least six months.

Those winning the awards are: Sally Buchanan, Woodrow Wilson School; Christine Hollendonner, Alumni Council; Dawn Horner, contract administration; Jennifer Houle, English; Dave Ikalewicz, grounds and building maintenance; Raymond Kopacz, Office of the Recording Secretary; and Freddie Perez, building services.

The current referral program runs through June 30, 2001. If the program is deemed a success, it could continue with larger awards and expanded job categories.

Referral forms and additional information can be obtained from the Office of Human Resources in New South or downloaded from www. princeton.edu/hr/emp/referral.pdf.
