Trainer continues as University librarian Princeton NJ -- Karin Trainer has been reappointed for a second five-year term as University librarian, effective July 1, 2001. Karin Trainer     "This is a period when transformative challenges are facing the world of libraries: issues which have technical, intellectual, financial and management components," said Provost Jeremiah Ostriker. "Karin Trainer has guided us through five years of dramatic improvements at our many libraries. Princeton is fortunate indeed that she has agreed to serve an additional five-year term as University librarian." Trainer was named University librarian in 1996. She began her career at Princeton in 1972 as a descriptive cataloger and catalog maintenance librarian. In 1978, she became director of technical and automated services at the New York University Libraries. She was associate university librarian at Yale University from 1983 to 1996. Trainer serves as a trustee for the Princeton University Press, on the advisory board of the University's Center for Arts and Cultural Policy Studies and on the management committee of the Index of Christian Art.
