United Way campaign

The University's annual campaign in support of the United Way of Greater Mercer County runs through Dec. 15.

To illustrate the power of contributing, here are some examples of what your dollars could provide:

$1 per week

• Two nights in a shelter for a homeless family of four.
• Twelve days of rehabilitative therapy for a child with developmental disabilities.
• One nursing visit to an elderly person recovering from surgery.

$5 per week

• Five months of dinner meals for a senior citizen.
• Distribution of surplus food to 300 families.

$10 per week

• Basic necessities for a family of six who are victims of a fire.
• Eleven sessions of psychiatric care for a mentally ill individual.
• A hot, nutritious meal for 100 homeless, indigent people.

$20 per week

• Fifteen days in a shelter with counseling for a battered woman and her children.
• One year of activities for three children in a community program.
• Six months of therapy for a low-income family addressing teenage suicide.

For more information on the campaign, visit the United Way home page at <http://www.princeton.edu/pr/uw/> or contact the main campus United Way coordinator, Karen Woodbridge, at 258-5656 or <karenw@princeton.edu>.
