George named to bioethics council
Princeton NJ -- President Bush has named Princeton politics professor Robert George to the newly created President's Council on Bioethics.

The council will advise the president on key moral issues, such as embryonic stem cell research and cloning. Its 18 members, all appointed by the president, include eminent scientists, philosophers and other scholars.
George is the McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence and director of the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions at Princeton. A graduate of Swarthmore College and Harvard Law School, he holds a doctorate in legal philosophy from Oxford University.
George has served as a presidential appointee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights and is a former Judicial Fellow at the U.S. Supreme Court, where he received the Justice Tom C. Clark Award. He is the author of many books and articles, including "In Defense of Natural Law" and, most recently, "The Clash of Orthodoxies: Law, Morality and Religion in Crisis."

Calendar of events
The Bulletin is published weekly during the academic year, except
during University breaks and exam weeks, by the Office of
Communications. Second class postage paid at Princeton. Permission is
given to adapt, reprint or excerpt material from the Bulletin for use
in other media.
Subscriptions. The Bulletin is distributed free to faculty,
staff and students. Others may subscribe to the Bulletin for $28 for
the academic year (half price for current Princeton parents and
people over 65). Send a check to Office of Communications, Stanhope
Hall, Princeton University, Princeton, NJ 08544.
Deadline. In general, the copy deadline for each issue is the
Friday 10 days in advance of the Monday cover date. The deadline for
the Bulletin that covers Feb. 18&endash;24 is Friday, Feb. 8.
