University Research Board

Princeton NJ -- The University Research Board oversees the solicitation, acceptance and administration of research grants from government and other sources. The board is composed of six faculty members and works in conjunction with its administrative arm, the Office of Research and Project Administration.

• In the 2000-01 school year, researchers on campus spent $114 million in sponsored research funds. That figure does not include the Princeton Plasma Physics Lab, which spent $72.2 million in research funds.

• The department with the highest level of sponsored research expenditures in 2000-01 was molecular biology, which spent $21.7 million. Physics was next at $12.0 million.

• The greatest funders of research on the main campus were the National Science Foundation, which supported 295 projects at an expense of $25.5 million, and the National Institutes of Health, which support-ed 129 projects at an expense of $24.9 million.

• The Office of Research and Project Administration received 108 invention disclosures from faculty members and applied for 106 patents.

The Bulletin is published weekly during the academic year, except during University breaks and exam weeks, by the Office of Communications. Second class postage paid at Princeton. Permission is given to adapt, reprint or excerpt material from the Bulletin for use in other media.


Subscriptions. The Bulletin is distributed free to faculty, staff and students. Others may subscribe to the Bulletin for $28 for the academic year (half price for current Princeton parents and people over 65).
