Spotlight
Name: Charles Krank.
Position: Assistant director of grounds and building
maintenance. Coordinating setup for special events, such as
the presidential installation and annual reunions, including
his own with the class of 1974. Managing the department
budget and the campus pager and radio system. Arranging for
floor-covering replacements across campus.
Quote: "The fun -- and the challenge -- of my job
is the tremendous variety of things I get involved in. I
have opportunities to assist all elements of the University
community: faculty, staff, students and alumni. I also enjoy
seeing all the great work done by the wonderfully skilled
trades workers here in maintenance."
Other interests: Spending time with wife and
children, including his son, Erik Johnston, who is a
technical staff member of the School of Architecture.
Golfing, cooking, traveling and working on landscaping and
building projects.
Obituaries
Diane Balestri, who held positions as assistant
dean of the college and associate director of computing and
information technology, died of a brain tumor March 5. She
was 58.
Balestri came to the Office of the Dean of the College in
1985 from Bryn Mawr College. Developing a long-standing
interest in educational uses of technology, she transferred
in 1992 to the Office of Computing and Information
Technology (now the Office of Information Technology).
In 1997, Balestri moved to Vassar College where she
became vice president of computing and information
services.
Her ties to the University continued, in part through her
family. She is survived by her husband, Charles, a member of
Princeton's class of 1963, and two sons, Leo '93, and Carlo
'96.

Ramon Pressburger, who retired in 1986 from the
Plasma Physics Laboratory as supervisor of maintenance, died
Feb. 27. He was 77.
Pressburger, a resident of Howell, N.J., worked at the
University for 23 years. He was a World War II Navy
veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothea; a son, Ramon, of
Howell; three daughters, the Rev. Mona Maglone and Kathy
Wilson of Howell, and Lynda Drolet of Rutherford. Memorial
contributions may be made to the USS Laffey Association, c/o
J. Folino, 960 Gary St., Turlock, CA 95382.

The Bulletin is published weekly during the academic year, except
during University breaks and exam weeks, by the Office of
