Name: Charlaine Claxton.
Position: Department manager in politics.
Assisting the department chair in the administration of
searches, reappointments and promotions involving the
department's 43 full-time faculty members and 38 lecturers
and visiting scholars; managing the departmental budget and
facilities; and supervising the administrative and technical
support staff.
Quote: "My job is multifaceted. It's something
different every day. I have routine things, but I never know
what the faculty are going to ask me about. I also have a
lot of autonomy in my work."
Other interests: Claxton, who has two adult sons,
is a third-year student in the doctor of education program
through Nova Southeastern University in Florida. She also is
an adjunct instructor at Mercer County Community College. A
longtime resident of Cherry Hill, she enjoys downhill
skiing, tennis, swimming and aerobics.

Calendar of events
The Bulletin is published weekly during the academic year, except
during University breaks and exam weeks, by the Office of
Communications. Second class postage paid at Princeton. Permission is
given to adapt, reprint or excerpt material from the Bulletin for use
in other media.
Subscriptions. The Bulletin is distributed free to faculty,
staff and students. Others may subscribe to the Bulletin for $14 for
the spring term (half price for current Princeton parents and people
over 65). Send a check to Office of Communications, Stanhope Hall,
Princeton University, Princeton, NJ 08544.
Deadline. In general, the copy deadline for each issue is the
Friday 10 days in advance of the Monday cover date. The deadline for
the Bulletin that covers May 6&endash;19 is Friday, April 26.
