P E O P L E
Name: Guillaume Masseus.
Position: Equipment operator in grounds and
building maintenance. Working on the campus grounds,
primarily taking care of the garden at Prospect House. In
the fall, he and other gardeners plant 8,000 to 10,000
spring-flowering bulbs. After they fade, the crew replaces
them with annuals grown during the winter in the
University's greenhouse. During the summer months, some 25
to 30 species of annuals and perennials are in bloom at one
time in the garden. As the summer plants wither, the
gardeners replace them with fall chrysanthemums.
Quote: "I like what I'm doing. It's lovely to be
outside in this garden."
Other interests: Spending time with his
10-year-old daughter, cabinetry and watching baseball.
