Malkiel, Taylor reappointed
Princeton NJ -- At its June 3 meeting, the Board of
Trustees reappointed Nancy Malkiel to a fourth five-year
term as dean of the college and extended Joseph Taylor's
term as dean of the faculty for one additional year. Both
are effective July 1.
Malkiel was first named dean of the college in 1987.
She came to Princeton in 1969 as a faculty member in the
Department of History, where she currently holds the rank of
professor. From 1982 to 1986, she served as master of Mathey
College.
A summa cum laude graduate of Smith College, Malkiel
earned her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Harvard
University.
Taylor, the James McDonnell Distinguished University
Professor of Physics, was appointed dean of the faculty in
1997. A member of the Princeton faculty since 1980, he
shared the 1993 Nobel Prize in physics.
Taylor earned his B.A. degree with honors from Haverford
College and his Ph.D. degree from Harvard University.
